The process that goes into Fantastical Sweets by MIKA creations

Beginning the Art

Congratulations on your engagement! Imagine having the cake of your dreams, on display, as you walk into your reception area. "Woooooowwww!" That is the response that we strive to create for you.

To begin the process, we love to see your Pinterest boards and inspiration images, so feel free to send those to us as we discuss your event. After we’ve had a chance to discuss your wedding and our process, we’ll schedule a design consultation with Mika, either in person or more commonly these days by email. We ask our clients to fill out the contact form on the LET'S TALK page, with as much detail as possible, along with pics of the venue, color pallet, floral arrangement, venue decor, the gown, invitation cards and any ideas you have saved to understand the style you are looking for to create the ultimate cake design especially for you!

We recommend that you contact us at least 6-9 months before your wedding to ensure availability.

Sketching the Art

After reviewing all the details and understanding your style, we start sketching your dream cake.

When the sketches are ready, we set a date for a consultation and/or a tasting.

Tasting the Art

My cakes are not too sweet. I believe flavor should be celebrated--72% chocolate, Meyer lemons, cream cheese, vanilla beans... not sugar, so I don't use it where it's not necessary. Let the raspberries speak for themselves.

The tasting fee is $70, which will be deducted from the final quote if you decide to book Fantastical Sweets services.

Booking the Art

• How do I confirm and save a date in the calendar? How does the deposit work?

All cake or large dessert orders require a 50% deposit of the total cake and order amount. Until the deposit is received, the cake or dessert order is not confirmed or marked in the calendar. Be sure to get your deposit in, so your spot will be reserved. The remaining half/balance of your order is due and payable in full 2 weeks before your event. This allows for less hectic wedding days and events. If the process of design work, sugar flowers, or figures has begun, no changes to the design or size of the cake can be made, usually within 2 weeks of your event. Once your date is set, others inquiring are turned away for your date, and it influences the acceptance or decline of other orders. The entire schedule is built around these dates. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
